Beaver Valley Choral Society
It's time again for the Beaver Valley Choral Society's Open Membership Campaign. Anyone who is at least 18 years of age can sit in on the Society's upcoming preview sessions. It's a fun, exciting and interesting way to find out what the choral society is all about and to consider joining the choir or orchestra this season. There is no fee for interested new member candidates who attend these sessions that are open to the public.
The 90 minute sessions are in preparation for the Society's 2017 Christmas concert season and will meet on two consecutive Monday's, August 21 and 28, at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary of New Brighton United Methodist Church, 1033 Sixth Avenue, New Brighton. The rehearsals are conducted by BVCS Artistic Director Raymond Rotuna and BVCS Associate Director Sharon Burchill.
The choir is divided into four sections - soprano, alto, tenor and bass - and all parts are needed. Membership does not require auditioning. The only requirement is that the vocalists sing tunefully.
Musicians are also needed for the BVCS chamber orchestra, in the brass, woodwind, string and percussion sections. Instrumentalists should be able to read music and be able to play at a proficient level. Auditioning is not required.
Children ages 6 to 12 may also join the Society's Treble Youth Chorale on September 18. But adult member candidates can meet with Burchill during the preview sessions to learn about opportunities in the Society's youth chorus.
Experience the satisfaction and joy of making music. Attend the BVCS preview sessions on August 21 and 28 to see if membership in the Beaver Valley Choral Society is a good fit for you.
